Partially oriented polyester yarn, commonly known as polyester POY, is the primary form of polyester yarn. Also called pre-oriented polyester yarn. This is the first yarn made directly from PTA and MEG or by spinning polyester PET chips. POY is primarily used for texturing to create textured yarns. This is also known as Polyester Drawn Textured Yarn (DTY). POY can also be used for stretch drawing, weaving, and knitting fabrics. POY yarns come in different gloss levels, including semi-dull POY and bright POY. Bright POY is shiny due to the cross-section of the filament. Bright poi fabric also has a bright sheen. Polyester POY yarn is mainly available in raw white color and various colors. It is usually dyed using a dope dyeing technique which is more efficient and the yarn is evenly dyed in each piece. We mix the color masterbatch with the raw material to make the original dyed POY.

POYs from China and India are exported in large quantities to countries such as Egypt, Syria, Argentina, and Iran.
